TONY PIERCE

Tony Pierce as been performing in the public arena since he was 16 years old including early television appearances on Pittsburgh's "Come Alive" with his first band.   He was lead singer in several top tier bands in the Pittsburgh area during the 60s, 70s, and early 80s including the Grains of Sand, Dear Fly, and SLAM.  The Grains charted a regional hit in Ontario, Canada (1967)) with Tony's composition "Passing Through the Night" which, along with the ""B" side, "The Castaway of Captain Haze" (also penned by Tony), enjoyed airplay in Pittsburgh, and on Terry Lee's show on WMCK in McKeesport.  They opened for the Beach Boys, Yardbirds,  the Association,  and many others during Tony's tenure as lead singer.  Four of the bands in which Tony was lead singer were recently included in the much hailed book by Nashville radio programmer Ed Salamon, "Pittsburgh's Golden Age of Rock and Roll."  Tony also has a dual career as a college professor..
